Whether you love it, hate it, or simply don’t understand it, social media is here to stay, and at some stage you’re going to need to get your head around it if you have a business and want to keep up with, or stay ahead of, the competition.
What started off as platforms that our kids communicated on, texting and sharing photos, are now global marketing and communication platforms, used by all ages, for both social and business purposes.
Small and medium sized businesses used to rely on word of mouth, newspaper adverts and articles, as well as hard copy promotional material, such as flyers. Then came email and the ability to mass mail shot, facilitated by the arrival of pdf documents and the ability to embed marketing material.
After that, it became necessary to have a website, and for many small or medium sized businesses, this is as far as they’ve got, and even that’s been somewhat of a struggle. Many have paid big bucks for mediocre web designers to build them indifferent sites that don’t maximise their business or brand; in some cases they do the opposite. They have poorly chosen fonts that aren’t consistent with the type of business products or services that they’re promoting, poor generic images, taken themselves or sourced from stock image suppliers, and their sites aren’t intuitive or user friendly.
There’s always an interesting relationship between perception and reality; is one the other or are they mutually exclusive? In the online world, image is everything, and therefore the importance of having and using high quality images on your website, or your marketing material and on social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Linkedin – has never been more important.
Images are what catches someone’s eye, as they trawl through hundreds of posts, and if they click into one of your images, then there’s a good chance they’ll learn something about you, your brand, products or services and link to your website and other social media platforms. The beauty of these social media platforms, is that in their basic form, they are free, and your global reach knows no bounds.
I’m a copywriter and photographer, and I look at the way many businesses project themselves online, often thinking that with a bit of help they could exponentially boost their profile, presentation and image, relatively easily. It’s worth spending some money to have high quality images and written content, so that you put your best foot forward.
A good image, with the appropriate caption and hashtags, will be shared by friends and followers of interest groups and capture people’s imagination, pandering to their passions, hobbies, ambitions and aspirations. We love to share things that we come across with our friends and family, and never has it been easier to do so in a more powerful and effective way.
I specialise in taking high quality images, tailored to your business, brand, products and services, with the appropriate marketing or descriptive content to accompany them, in whatever medium you want. As a former successful businessman, I’m quick to understand a business, its objectives and goals, and to assess how it can improve with better images, content, and efficient use of social media platforms with digital cross-fertilisation.
I can help you raise your game and maximise your potential. If would like to know more, then please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
